Lashify vs Lash Extensions

Lashes are a staple for anyone who has a beauty routine. Whether you use mascara, strip lashes, individuals, or get a lash lift or lash extensions, lashes always help open up the eyes and finish a beauty look. Lashify has been disrupting the lash industry, giving consumers the ability to easily and safely create any lash look they desire, without requiring the help of a professional, any time they want, from the comfort of their own homes. Many of Lashify’s customers are converts of avid lash extension wearers. Why the switch? Let’s explore the difference between lash extensions and Lashify!

Lash extensions can be applied using either natural or synthetic fibers, in clusters or in single strands. They are applied to each one of your natural lashes, one by one, using a chemical grade adhesive. This creates fuller, longer lashes for an average of 22 weeks. Because natural lashes grow at different rates, they will fall out one by one. So clients go in every 1-2 weeks to get fills, and replace the extensions that have fallen or grown out. The goal of waking up to amazing lashes for a long period of time is achieved. That being said, there can be  some drawbacks, and they can come at a price.

  • Cost: Regularly getting lash extensions can set you back hundreds of dollars. Depending on where you live, the type of extensions you choose, and the experience of your lash tech, your initial appointment can cost you anywhere from $100 - $400, and your lash fills, that are required every 2-3 weeks, can cost $50 - $100.
  • Time commitment: The first appointment can take 2-3 hours, as your lash tech applies false lash fibers to each natural lash. Lash fill appointments can be 1-2 hours depending on the condition of the lashes.
  • Maintenance:  Aside from the initial instructions to follow right after application (for example avoiding water/steam for 48 hours), there are other instructions and things to avoid, like regularly cleansing the lashes and avoiding oil-based products. You may also have to adjust your skin care and sleep habits to extend the wear, look, and health of your natural lashes.
  • Lash Fills: Natural lashes shed at different rates, and so do your lash extensions. For this reason you might have to deal with wonky lashes and gaps until your next fill appointment.
  • Customization: Whatever look you get initially, you are committed to the same look for weeks. In order to change the style or lash map you would likely have to make an appointment for a removal and full application or transition to a new look  as you get fills.
  • Possible risks: Due to the chemicals in the bonds (like formaldehyde and cyanoacrylate), some people can experience an allergic reaction, irritation, inflammation, or dry eyes. Typical lash extension bond will cure or harden when it touches the air. As the natural lash grows out, the extension will grow with it. Over time the extension will become too heavy for the natural lash and oftentimes take part of the natural lash with it when it “sheds” or falls off, potentially causing damage to the natural lash.

Lashify offers the solution to all of these pain points! You get to have the incredible look of extensions without all the drawbacks. For a fraction of the cost you can apply Lashify in a matter of minutes in the comfort of your own home. Because they are easily applied and removed you will have a flawless look each time, and be able to fully change and customize your look. Our bonds are free of harsh chemicals, the Gossamer® lashes  are incredibly lightweight, and can be easily removed with any oil. This prevents any natural lash damage.

Lashify Control Kit

Lashify offers a damage-free experience. Our bonds do not contain any of the harsh chemicals found in traditional lash extension bonds (formaldehyde, cyanoacrylate). Our bonds remain flexible, meaning they “move” naturally and are not stiff. Additionally, you don’t have to apply one lash at a time. Due to the flexibility of the bond you can apply the Gossamer lash sections over multiple natural lashes at a time with no issues. Our bonds can be layered and act like a “cushion” between your natural lashes and the Gossamer lashes. Our bonds can be handled by the general public with no issue; no professional license is necessary to use Lashify. We are able to  avoid the reactions and swelling that some people get with traditional extension glue.

In conclusion, here is how Lashify compares with lash extensions:

  • Time: The initial appointment for traditional extensions can take 2-3 hours. Lashify can be applied in just 10-15 minutes. (First time applications can take 20-30 as people learn how to use the system, but each application gets easier!)
  • Investment: Extensions can cost an average of $300, plus fills ranging from $50 - $100. The Lashify Control Kit is only $125, and additional lash cartridges can cost an average of $12.
  • Comfort and Flexibility: With traditional extensions, you get one lash look for a while, you have to maintain your lashes regularly, and make appointments to fill them. Traditional extensions also use bonds that fully cure all the way, which, at times, can feel hard. Lashify bonds are flexible, therefore the lashes don’t feel stiff and are very comfortable. You can easily adjust the lash map in minutes and change your look.
  • User-Friendly/DIY: Lashify is incredibly easy to use from the comfort of your own home. No appointments needed! You decide how long to wear them, when to remove them, and when to change them out. You can apply your own fills! They can be easily removed with any oil in a matter of minutes.
  • Damage-Free: Our bonds do not contain any of the harsh chemicals found in traditional extension bonds (formaldehyde, cyanoacrylates). Our bonds remain flexible, meaning they allow the natural lashes to move with the Gossamer lashes, and do not feel stiff. Because Lashify’s products are formulated for sensitive eyes, anyone can easily wear Lashify without irritation.
